Remove the Blogger header with new Templates

Another very popular post, was how to remove the header from Blogger. With the new templates this is different.

  1. In the blog, click Template and then Edit HTML.

  2. You get quite a severe warning about what can go wrong, well this is at your own risk. Click "Proceed".

  3. The raw HTML / CSS loads in a pop-up window.

  4. Do a find for 'locked'. Its in a line

    and change

    locked='true'

    to

    locked='false'

    and then Save Template
  5. Now when you go to Layout, and select the Header you'll see there is a remove button.

    After:

Didn't work for me. I click view blog to see the change I've done and the header is still there and then then template goes back to saying 'locked=true'

Thanks! I changed a template and then freaked out when I wasn't able to get rid of the header as previously.

Okay i've read a lot of comments about how this didn't work for many people."It worked on my first blog some time ago." It also worked on MY first blog. Now it shows an error. Apparently Blogger has found a counter-measure for it. Now for my counter-counter-measure.
1. Search (Ctrl+F) for "locked=true"
2. Keep going until you come across the one you want to remove, in this case, the header.
3. Remove the code from the starting to ending. Just go to the top where there is an isolated "header" to the bottom isolated "header".
4. Save template.
5. It will prompt that your new code does not contain "Header1".
6. Proceed.
7. Gone!
8. Check my blog fulldownloz.blogspot.com (optional)...

Shamir Khan is correct. I did this and now I was able to replace the header with an html image without the annoying description, etc. Thank you
