Here's a 2 minute fix:
Right click or CTRL click on the application
and select "show package contents".
Then navigate to Contents > Resources > lib
Deletes these two files: libxml.2.dylib and libiconv.2.dylib
OSX Lion ships with them, and deleting them from the application bundle makes avidemux use the system version instead of the non-working version bundled version.

Just one question: I can't seem to delete the files. The Finder simply says that it cannot be done. Do I need to change permissions of something?

hi. i manage to open avidemux on lion. but i can t open a new project. the menu is not active. any ideas? thanks. nicolas
What do you mean by the menu is not active? Can you post a screen shot?
hi steve, i found it. avidemux jumps automatically to the background. i just need to hide my other programs so avidemux becomes visible. thanks
